Description
For all RORC and other longer distance offshore yacht races, 30% (but not less than 2) of the crew are required to have completed a World Sailing Offshore Safety Course (previously ISAF) within the last 5 years.
SeaRegs are recognised by the RYA to run the World Sailing Offshore Safety course. This course satisfies the training required by World Sailing Offshore Special Regulation 6.01 for category 0, 1 and some category 2 offshore races.
The aim of the 2-day World Sailing Offshore Safety course is to provide skippers and crews of yachts wishing to take part in offshore races with the necessary skills and knowledge to deal with an emergency whilst offshore. The course consists of 2 modules, basic sea survival and offshore safety. If you have attended the RYA Basic Sea Survival course within the last five years then you need only to attend the World Sailing Offshore Safety Training module.
The offshore safety element of the course covers care & maintenance of safety equipment, storm sails, damage control, crew routines, man overboard prevention & recovery, practical fire precautions & fire fighting.
For groups of 6 or more, courses may be able to be arranged at a date and venue to suit and the training can be tailored to your group.
