The course has been launched primarily to meet the manning requirements of Workboat Code 3 and MCA Sport & Pleasure Code. The course also meets the requirements for those applying for their MCA Boatmaster Licence (BML).

The AEC 2 is the second half to the full AEC qualification. It is a 35 hour, 5 day enhanced course. The aim is to give the basic training to the engineer officers who want to pursue a career on 'Small Vessels'. The necessary training outlines the certification structure, examination and training requirements. It also explains the regulatory requirements regarding the implementation of intended training elements.

SeaRegs Training have MCA approval to run the MCA Electronic Chart Systems (approved) and Bridge Watchkeeping Procedures and the MCA Radar & Meteorology courses.
