The AEC1 is a 5 day course, and is a step up from the RYA 1-Day Diesel Engine Course. It is what many marine engineers will know as the original AEC. The objective of the course is to provide a basic theoretical knowledge and some practical hands on experience of diesel engines and systems. To make the course as practical as possible we use a Volvo and Yanmar engine which we strip down to their component parts and hopefully put back together again.

MCA Workboat Code Edition 3 and MCA Sport & Pleasure Code may now require you to hold the new MCA courses for electronic chart systems and radar stated in table A5.3. SeaRegs Training have MCA approval to run the MCA Electronic Chart Systems (approved) and Bridge Watchkeeping Procedures and the MCA Radar & Meteorology courses.

The MCA Stability for Workboats, Pilot Boats and Small Commercial Vessels (SCV) has been introduced to meet the requirements in the Workboat Code Edition 3 and MCA Sport & Pleasure Code for Masters to attend an approved stability course. This course meets the requirements of Stability Training of the code of practice.

Highfield Level 2 Food Safety at Sea course is accepted by the MCA (also known as Food Hygiene), which are listed in MIN 689 and are suitable for crew working in the maritime industry where food handling takes place such as superyachts, workboats, cruise ships, ferries and offshore supply vessels. This course meets the requirements of the requirements set out in table A5.3 of Workboat Code 3 and the MCA Sport & Pleasure Code

The Efficient Deck Hand Course is a practical and theory course covering deck seamanship skills and ship knowledge. Efficient Deck Hand (EDH) is the qualifying examination for an Able Seafarer Deck certificate. It is also a requirement for the issue of an Officer of the Watch (Yacht less than 3000GT) Certificate of Competency.
