Highfield Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners to be able to know the requirements of Risk assessment and the benefits in any environment. When teaching this course, we conduct practical risk assessments in small groups and write up our findings. If learners are coming from a maritime environment we will also ensure that we discuss the requirements of Risk assessment in the maritime environment.

Highfield Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment

The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners to be able to know the requirements of Risk assessment and the benefits in any environment.

When teaching this course, we conduct practical risk assessments in small groups and write up our findings.

If learners are coming from a maritime environment we will also ensure that we discuss the requirements of Risk assessment in the maritime environment, such as Safety Management Systems, Code of Safe working practices and the role that the MCA play in Health and Safety.

 

Course Content:

The qualification provides learners with:

  • an understanding of the responsibilities of employers
  • the main causes and costs of work related fatalities, injuries and ill-health
  • the role of risk assessment in the prevention of accidents and ill-health
  • the requirements of a risk assessment
  • a process for undertaking a risk assessment
  • a method to evaluate risk
  • hierarchy of control
  • risk calculation
  • implementation of procedures

 

Assessment

The assessment is a multiple-choice question examination containing 15 questions that must be completed within 30 minutes. Question papers are marked by Highfield and results and certification are forwarded by post to the candidate.
