STCW Courses

This one day course provides a good mixture of theoretical and practical sessions covering basic first aid and basic life support skills on vessels operating up to 60 miles to sea. Accepted by the RYA and MCA for Commercial Endorsements and the RYA for Instructors.

The one day Survival course can be used for candidates requiring STCW refresher training or for anyone needing to complete a Survival course to work on a vessel or as part of the commercial endorsement requirement.

From 1 September 2013, anyone applying to the MCA for a Certificate of Competence will need a HELM certificate in addition to the existing requirements. There are 2 levels of HELM; Operational level (3 day course) and Management level (5 day course).

STCW PSSR and Security Awareness combined in a one day course, the morning is PSSR and afternoon Security Awareness. Both courses can be completed on their own as a half day module if you don't need to do them both.

The training forms part of the requirements for basic training for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship on the business of that ship as part of the ship's complement with designated safety or pollution prevention duties in the operation of the ship. The training must be undertaken before new entrants are assigned to any such shipboard duties.

This training is now required by all personnel employed or engaged onboard ships which the ISPS code applies (International Ship and Port Security Code). This applies to any vessel over 500 gross tonnage as well as port facilities serving these vessels. This half day course is based on Regulation VI/6, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/6, paragraph 4 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.
