The AEC1 is a 5 day course, and is a step up from the RYA 1-Day Diesel Engine Course. It is what many marine engineers will know as the original AEC. The objective of the course is to provide a basic theoretical knowledge and some practical hands on experience of diesel engines and systems. To make the course as practical as possible we use a Volvo and Yanmar engine which we strip down to their component parts and hopefully put back together again.

Before attending a Powerboat Instructor course you will need to have passed the pre-skills assessment, we have an assessment scheduled before the Instructor course starts. The AEC1 is a 5 day course, and is a step up from the RYA 1-Day Diesel Engine Course. It is what many marine engineers will know as the original AEC. The objective of the course is to provide a basic theoretical knowledge and some practical hands on experience of diesel engines and systems. To make the course as practical as possible we use a Volvo and Yanmar engine which we strip down to their component parts and hopefully put back together again.
