STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness

This training is now required by all personnel employed or engaged onboard ships which the ISPS code applies (International Ship and Port Security Code). This applies to any vessel over 500 gross tonnage as well as port facilities serving these vessels. This half day course is based on Regulation VI/6, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/6, paragraph 4 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.

MCA Approved Engine Course Part 1 (AEC1)

The AEC1 is a 5 day course, and is a step up from the RYA 1-Day Diesel Engine Course. It is what many marine engineers will know as the original AEC. The objective of the course is to provide a basic theoretical knowledge and some practical hands on experience of diesel engines and systems. To make the course as practical as possible we use a Volvo and Yanmar engine which we strip down to their component parts and hopefully put back together again.

The AEC 2 is the second half to the full AEC qualification. It is a 35 hour, 5 day enhanced course. The aim is to give the basic training to the engineer officers who want to pursue a career on 'Small Vessels'.
